The past couple of weeks have been hard for Real Madrid – the elimination from the UEFA Champions League vs Arsenal, the Copa del Rey final defeat to Barcelona, falling four points behind the Catalans in La Liga and players falling prey to injuries.
Eduardo Camavinga and Ferland Mendy are out for at least two months and will be unavailable for the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer. Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are also out for six-eight weeks putting their involvement in the competition in jeopardy.
However, it is not all bad news for Real Madrid because AS reports that the Spanish capital giants are confident of recovering Eder Militao for the Club World Cup in the USA.
While the Brazilian is unlikely to feature before the end of the league campaign, his recovery is progressing well, and Real Madrid expect him to be available for the Club World Cup, set to take place from 15 June to 13 July.
Out due to an ACL injury he sustained late last year, Militao has resumed ball work since the March international break and is now undertaking high-intensity exercises at Valdebebas.
The next steps are partial integration into group training, followed by full sessions. So far, everything is proceeding as planned.

Caution remains essential in Militao’s case, as this is his second cruciate ligament injury in under 18 months. However, the Brazilian returned to play just six and a half months later after his first injury and club’s medical staff believe he is on a similar timeline now.
Militao is regularly working with the ball and performing high-impact, high-intensity exercises, as he is deemed ready for that stage. These sessions are carried out with Real Madrid’s recovery staff, particularly Jaime Salom, who has closely overseen his rehabilitation.
In addition, Militao has been working with his personal trainer, Romario Queiroz, who has travelled from Brazil to help the defender through his rehab.
Getting minutes before the league season ends appears unlikely. However, if recovery stays on course, Militao should be training with the group consistently by the end of May and will have a couple of weeks to prepare for the Club World Cup.
Naturally, he will lack match rhythm after such a long absence, but Real Madrid’s group at the tournament – featuring RB Salzburg, Al Hilal, and Pachuca – could allow him to ease back into competitive action
