It is no secret that Real Madrid are likely to enter the market for a new midfielder next summer.
The club have struggled to perform in midfield following the departure of Toni Kroos while Luka Modric is unlikely to continue beyond the end of the season.
What has hurt Real Madrid more is the poor form of Aurelien Tchouameni, who has even been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
In a bid to reinforce their ranks in the middle of the park, Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Martin Zubimendi.
However, Real Madrid’s pursuit of the Real Sociedad starl won’t be straightforward as the club are facing significant competition for the midfielder’s services.
As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are continuing to monitor the progress of the 25-year-old, who is rated highly due to his ability to control the play in the middle of the park.

Bayern could be a formidable opponent for Real Madrid as the Bavarians are equally desperate to beef up their options in midfield.
To make things even more challenging, it appears Los Blancos are set to face stiff competition from Premier League giants Arsenal as well.
The Gunners are looking for an ideal replacement for Thomas Partey and Zubimendi fits the bill perfectly due to his technical quality and ability to control the tempo of the game.
In addition to Bayern and Arsenal, the likes of Barcelona and Liverpool are keeping close tabs on the Spanish international.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad are not too keen on negotiating the transfer of their star midfielder. Even if they do sanction his exit, the club will insist on suitors paying his €60 million release clause.
Real Madrid, therefore, have their task cut out if they are to sign the Sociedad midfielder next summer.
