Real Madrid’s recent win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League might have given them the ticket to the quarterfinals, but the game has had a detrimental impact on the dressing room.

As per SPORT, there is a growing tension between Vinicius Jr. and the rest of the Real Madrid players, with the report suggesting that the entire dressing room has grown increasingly frustrated with the Brazilian winger.

The aftermath of the Atleti game

The situation escalated against Atletico Madrid, where Vinicius not only failed to put in a solid performance but also frustrated his teammates and coaches.

His reluctance to track back after losing possession led to an angry reaction from Jude Bellingham, who gestured for him to defend.

Rather than accepting the criticism, Vinicius confronted the English midfielder before turning his frustration towards manager Carlo Ancelotti and assistant Francesco Mauri.

This display of defiance has reportedly widened the rift between the 2024 Ballon d’Or runner-up and his teammates, many of whom have grown weary of his attitude.

Saudi Arabia waiting in the wings

The reported unrest between Real Madrid players and Vinicius comes against the backdrop of interest from Saudi Arabia and an apparent contract situation with the club.

The report suggests that the Brazilian believes he is the club’s most influential player and has demanded a salary higher than Kylian Mbappe.

This power struggle has not sat well with club president Florentino Perez, who might have a decision to make in the near future.

With Saudi Arabian clubs closely monitoring the situation, rumors of a record-breaking transfer are gaining traction. It must be noted that Saudi’s PIF are reportedly ready to hand the Brazilian a whopping €1 billion contract.

That said, Vinicius still appears to enjoy support from coach Ancelotti, but given his recent drop in performances coupled with a deteriorating relationship with teammates, it remains to be seen whether or not the Italian will be able to shield the winger.
