Real Madrid’s pursuit of Alphonso Davies has proven to be rocky terrain with the tide switching up regularly.
After all, there have been periods where the Bayern Munich star has appeared close to Real Madrid and other patches where he has looked inches away from a renewal.
The last few months have largely seen him lean closer towards continuing in Germany but reports in recent days increased his chances of joining Real Madrid as he was unhappy with the proposal put forth by his current employers.
If reports from David Ornstein are to be believed, Alphonso Davies’ entourage and Bayern Munich met on Friday in a meeting where the terms of a renewal were discussed.

The discussions were fruitful and saw both parties take a big step towards continuing together beyond this season and an agreement is not far away.
Bayern Munich are thus closer than ever to renewing Davies’ contract and it now appears that the deal is all but done.
Talks are advancing and the player is set to sign a four-year renewal until 2029 with the Bavarians.
In fact, there is word that the deal may get over the line as early as next week and that Real Madrid can say goodbye to their dream of signing him at this point.
With the Canadian all but out of their reach, it is likely that Carlo Ancelotti continues to retain faith in Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia as his preferred left-backs for next season.
The target now will be to complete the signings of a new right-back and central defender in June.
