Following a heartbreaking defeat which diminished all hopes for Real Madrid in a bid for the La Liga title, Los Blancos will look to salvage some pride in the final three games – starting from Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid suffered a fourth consecutive defeat against FC Barcelona despite going 0-2 up in the first 15 minutes. However, mistakes at the back and defensive vulnerabilities caused a comeback in the first half only.

Heading into this match, Carlo Ancelotti has the most inexperienced defense this season and perhaps the most in his stint as Madrid manager.

With Lucas Vazquez ruled out for the rest of the season, the men in white have no right-back and will have to turn to academy products to play at that position – or Fede Valverde

Raul Asencio, who began his season as a prospect, is now the most experienced defender in the squad and will lead the backline along with either Jesus Vallejo or Jacobo Ramon.

However, the midfield is an area where Real Madrid can kill the game against Mallorca. A Castilla player was added to the squad and increased the midfielders’ tally to 6 in the squad.

To add to their misery, Valverde, Bellingham and Ceballos risk a suspension for the next fixture against Sevilla.

Moreover, Vinicius Junior potentially ruled out for the rest of the season, Kylian Mbappe will be the main man in the attack, with a potential start for Endrick not entirely ruled out.

The Frenchman has been a bright spot in what has been a below average season for the Merengues and now leads the Pichichi race and will hope to keep the title in his bag till the season is over.

The opponents for tonight, Mallorca, sit on 9th in the table and are in a race for a Conference League qualification spot with Rayo Vallecano.

Last time these two sides met earlier this season, the Vikings swatted past Mallorca easily with a 3-0 scoreline.

Mallorca will have a task on their hands to turn the tide in their favour because on the attacking front, they have scored just 33 goals all season – only Real Sociedad, Getafe and Real Valladolid have less.

But Jagoba Arrasate’s side will come out all guns blazing considering there’s a lot on stake for them and they have a good chance to do so, keeping in mind Real Madrid’s weak defence.

Mallorca’s defense will have to deal with the intelligence and lethalness of Mbappe in front since he has the ability to decide a match on his own.

Even though the Merengues have a slim chance of still winning the title (if Barcelona gain just 1 point from their last three league games), but that’s quite slim and unlikely to happen considering the form the Blaugrana have been in.

For the first time this season, the Santiago Bernabeu is not sold out and this is a sign of fans showing their disappointment. But still, pride is at stake and Carlo Ancelotti would also hope that his stint as a manager ends on a winning note.
