When Real Madrid signed Arda Guler for just €20 million in the summer of 2023, it appeared to be quite the steal.
And while Guler’s deal might still be a bargain, there were many variables that Real Madrid had to include in the deal, which, if net, could increase the transfer value by €10 million.
To that end, a report from Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has claimed that Guler has recently met a key variable in his contract.
The variable revolves around Guler playing his 50th match for Real Madrid which has handed Fenerbahce a useful economic boost.
As per the report, Real Madrid have now paid Fenerbahce €4 million as agreed in the contract after Guler made 50 appearances for the club.

With 10 goals and eight assists, Guler still has a long way to go. But the playmaker is slowly making a mark and Real Madrid certainly won’t mind paying an additional €4 million for his services.
However, Guler’s 50-game milestone also has another string attached to it, as far as Real Madrid and Fenerbahce are concerned.
Upon reaching this milestone, it appears Fenerbahce have the option to demand a friendly with Real Madrid, which could be a lucrative opportunity for the Turkish giants to make some additional cash.
It must also be noted that Fenerbahce have retained a 20% sell-on fee clause in Guler’s contract, although it appears unlikely that Real Madrid would want to offload the Turkish international anytime soon despite links to other clubs.
