Rennes winger Jota (25) is set to complete a return to Scottish Premiership giants Celtic FC, according to Ouest-France. The Portuguese winger only joined the Ligue 1 side last summer in an €8m deal from Al-Ittihad, but he arrived out of fitness due to his ostracisation before his exit from Saudi Arabia and it took him a while to get up to speed. Jota played minutes under the tutelage of Julien Stéphan. He scored his side’s equalizing goal in the Brittany Derby against Brest, but injuries hampered him and he was no longer part of Jorge Sampaoli’s plans, Stéphan’s successor in the Rennes dugout.

Jota has been looking for a way out and Ouest-France understands that the Portuguese winger is poised to return to Celtic with Kyogo Furuhashi going the other way. Jota has logged 28 goals and 26 assists in 86 appearances for the Bhoys between 2022 and 2023. The outlet understands that Furuhashi’s move to Rennes has been made easier when it became clear that Jota could be involved somehow.
