Inter Milan target Mateo Silvetti reportedly won’t leave Newell’s Old Boys during the January transfer window.
This according to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, via FCInterNews. They also report that Newell’s are still trying to extend the 19-year-old’s contract.
Newell’s forward Silvetti is a player who’s come onto Inter’s radar.
The Nerazzurri are always actively scouting South America, and particularly Argentina, for young talent.
There have been plenty of Argentine players to succeed at Inter. Current club captain Lautaro Martinez joined the Nerazzurri directly from Racing Club.
And two players who Inter are currently eyeing up are at Newell’s Old Boys.
Inter are already reportedly right on the verge of signing midfielder Tomas Perez from Newell’s.
However, the Nerazzurri are not stopping there. They also want to sign forward Mateo Silvetti.
These are players who Inter would likely aim to have in their Under-23 team, which will take shape next season.
However, while negotiations for Perez have been successful, that hasn’t been the case with Silvetti.
Newell’s are still very much holding onto the 19-year-old.
Silvetti’s contract situation could very much be crucial. He is currently out of contract with Newell’s at the end of December.
But Newell’s are aiming to extend the teenager’s deal. They believe that they could do so.
And in any event, TyC reports, Newell’s have no intention of letting Silvetti leave. And the player himself has made clear that he is not going to force an exit.
