AC Milan and Inter were meant to submit their proposal to buy San Siro on Tuesday and while it didn’t arrive, it is in the process of being finalised.
According to Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica and La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanPress), Milan and Inter are finalizing the feasibility document of the project alternatives – AKA the ‘Docfap’ – to be presented to the Council of Milan for the purchase of the San Siro area.
It will be about 250 pages containing the proposal of the two clubs to acquire the surface rights of San Siro (about 280,000m²) and for the construction permits of the new facility, valued at €197m by the Revenue Agency.
It is an offer that will not be accepted, but if deemed appropriate will lead to the opening of a public tender, a necessary step for the Council. Around 30-45 days is the expected time frame for this tender that will have a prerequisite: the area must be dedicated to football. The objective is to sell it to the clubs by the summer.
The agreement between the clubs on the offer to be sent to the Council is in the definition phase: it should have been presented yesterday according to the first indications, it will be presented today if a final agreement is reached. The overall investment should exceed €1bn for the two clubs, combined.
More Stories / The Match
What is filtering out from Mayor Beppe Sala and co. is that San Siro will not be partly demolished or repurposed before 2030. The new stadium will have around 70-71k capacity (or a little more), 13k of which are corporate, in a redeveloped urban context with 50% green areas.
The Curva Sud and part of the stand to its right are planned to be preserved from the current Meazza and this area will host the museum of the two teams.
The rest of the area should instead host commercial spaces and offices (less than 100,000m²). The construction of a slot for thousands of underground parking spaces for parking is also planned.
