AC Milan will likely have to turn elsewhere in their search for Daniele Bonera’s potential replacement as one candidate has turned the job down.
Over the weekend, Matteo Moretto of Relevo reported that Bonera is ‘heading towards dismissal’ with the defeat against Lucchese ‘decisive’. He would then go on to add that Italy U19 boss Alberto Bollini is the favourite to replace him.
Now, the same journalist is claiming that the Bollini hypothesis is ‘cooling down’ because it seems that he wishes to remain as part of the Federation, given the solid relationship that ties him to both President Gabriele Gravina and the Coordinator of the Youth National Teams Maurizio Viscidi.
Furthermore, in March the U19 will face an important qualifying phase for the European Championship and he does not want to leave one month before that. As a result, Milan will have to turn elsewhere it seems.
MilanNews are also confirming the update on Bollini and they suggest that an internal solution is possible: Federico Guidi, current coach of Milan Primavera. The appeal is that he is an experienced coach doing well with the Primavera and who already knows many Futuro players well.
Guidi knows Serie C well, having first coached Gubbio, then Casertana and Teramo, leading all three teams to safety. If he were to make the jump up to the Futuro, the club – with youth sector head Vincenzo Vergine first and foremost – would have to choose a replacement for the Primavera.
