Retegui a big Atalanta doubt for Lecce game after injury | OneFootball

Atalanta could be without Capocannoniere Mateo Retegui for Sunday’s Serie A match against Lecce after a muscular problem.

It had originally been scheduled for Friday evening, but had to be postponed because Lecce physiotherapist Graziano Fiorita died suddenly at the team hotel in Bergamo on Thursday.

The Serie A Week 36 fixture is now set to go ahead on Sunday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT, 20.45 CET).

Now Atalanta could be forced to change their plans too, because Sky Sport Italia report that Retegui suffered a muscular problem in training today.

The area affected is the flexor in his right thigh, so it remains to be seen if the current Serie A top scorer will even be in the squad.

Retegui adds to Atalanta injury concerns

It is another setback for Atalanta, who are already missing Stefan Posch, Sead Kolasinac, Gianluca Scamacca, Giorgio Scalvini and Marco Palestra.

The Italy international is top of the Serie A scoring charts with 23 goals in 31 appearances.

In his absence, La Dea could move Ademola Lookman into a False 9 role, or Charles De Ketelaere, although the Belgian is not fully fit either.
