Bayern Munich pulled off a massive coup in the form of Harry Kane during the summer transfer window of 2023. The English forward left Tottenham Hotspur after over a decade to play for Bayern. Die Roten broke their transfer record to get the services of Kane.
The English striker has been nothing but a successful signing for Bayern. He scored more than 40 goals in his debut season. Kane has already scored 26 goals for Rekordmeister across all competitions.
Despite turning 31 last July, Kane is showing no signs of slowing down. The transfer of Kane was monumental for Bayern as they managed to get an English superstar from the Premier League. However, Die Roten agreed to a very special contract with Kane that allowed him to engineer a move away from Bavaria at different stages of his deal.
According to SportBild’s Christian Falk, Kane has different release clauses in his contract. He had a release clause worth €80 million if Kane wants to leave in 2025, but the deadline has passed for this clause. The interested clubs can sign Kane for €65 million in 2026 as it is the second release clause in his deal.
The Daily Telegraph has also reported the presence of a release clause in Kane’s contract in Bavaria. Tottenham Hotspur have the first refusal on a potential deal for Kane in the future, but other English clubs will be interested if the prolific goal-scorer decides to leave Munich in the future.
Bayern have a lot of time to sign a long-term successor of Kane. The English forward still has several years left at the top level. Die Roten will hope that Kane can fire them to a Champions League title during his stay in Munich.
After Bayern endured a trophyless campaign in Kane’s debut season, the English forward is eager to lift the first trophy of his career this season. Kane is yet to taste collective success at the club and country level.
Bayern are well placed to regain the Bundesliga title as they have a lead of six points at the top of the points table. The Bavarian club has been brilliant under Vincent Kompany in the Bundesliga, dominating teams and playing an expansive style of football.
The Bavarian club has been knocked out of DFB Pokal, but there is still a chance of winning the Champions League at Allianz Arena. Bayern will face Celtic in the play-off stage of the European competition later this month.
