Amid the somewhat chaotic situation at the club, at least if we include the stance of the fans, Paolo Scaroni recently agreed to yet another interview. Among other things, he spoke about Gerry Cardinale’s words to Harvard.
The Milan owner’s interview with the prestigious college, carried out under the assumption that it was a study, has caused great anger among the Rossoneri fans. Currently in eighth place in the standings, it’s not exactly hard to see why.
Speaking to Corriere della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, Scaroni was asked about the future of Paulo Fonseca, what they can remedy in 2025 and the words of Cardinale. He made it clear that they have full respect for Inter, even if the American’s words suggested something else.
On Fonseca’s future…
“If he’s at risk? No, we all hope he wins a lot.”
On the hope for 2025…
“We have to work hard to win and improve our league standings, also because we want to be closer to Inter.”
On Cardinale’s words and Inter’s response…
“Cardinale, as a sportsman and not just a businessman, was referring to the past ownership of Inter and certainly not to the Nerazzurri club. On the pitch, we face each other and we want to fight, like in the last derby, maybe sometimes we tease each other good-naturedly, but it is clear that outside there is respect and loyal collaboration with Inter, so imagine if we can not have respect.
“We have always shared the stadium and we are working to build a new one together. Milan is also a unique reality in which the fans, fortunately, can go and watch the derby mixing together, in a serene atmosphere.”
It remains to be seen what will happen with regard to the Harvard interview, as it was supposedly never meant to be cited in newspapers and online outlets. There has been no communication from Milan on this front, though.
