Back in the summer of 2023, Sevilla appointed Victor Orta as their new sporting director, replacing the Aston Villa-bound Monchi. The 45-year-old had left Leeds United a few months prior, having spent six years at the English side.
Orta will hope to spend a similar amount of time (at the very least) at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, and this commitment to Sevilla has been confirmed by his rejection of a move away from the Andalusian club.
As reported by multiple outlets in Russia (via Diario AS), Orta was recently approached by Spartak Moscow, who wanted to hire him at their sporting director. However, he turned them down.
Orta has experience of working in Russia, having been sporting director at Zenit St Petersburg from 2013 to 2014. However, his desire is to continue at Sevilla, and he should be busy during next month’s winter transfer window as Los Nervionenses want to sign at least two players for Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta’s squad.
