On the back of lifting the Premier League title at Anfield on Sunday, Liverpool have swiftly turned their attention to bolstering their squad in the transfer market.
After arriving last summer, Arne Slot completed two deals in his first summer at the club. Federico Chiesa joined the Reds for £12million from Juventus, while Giorgi Mamardashvili will join the club this summer in a deal expected to be worth around £30million.
A much busier summer is expected this time around, with plenty of incomings and outgoings on the agenda.
None more so than Bayer Leverkusen duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, who are both expected to join Liverpool. The moves for the Bundesliga stars could cost a combined fee of £130million, with the Reds triggering the £29.5million release clause in Frimpong’s contract.
That deal seems on the brink of being announced with Sky Sports reporting that the Dutchman has arrived in Merseyside to complete the deal.
The report reads, “BREAKING: Jeremie Frimpong has arrived in the UK to finalise his move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen.”
The right-sided star has already completed all aspects of his medical ahead of the switch to Anfield and is expected to sign a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2030.
As it stands, Liverpool are in pole position to sign the German attacking midfielder with the player pushing for the move.
The two clubs are still negotiating the price and structure of the deal, which is expected to surpass the £100million mark including add-ons. But there is still an expectation for that deal to be completed, with an agreement on personal terms already reached.

With the expected arrivals of both Frimpong and Wirtz, it will be fascinating to see how Arne Slot adapts his league-winning side to grow further.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid ahead of the Club World Cup in June, with Conor Bradley seen as the natural replacement for the 26-year-old.
Frimpong is capable of adding a level of depth in that area of the squad, but can also feature further up the pitch as a winger. Liverpool have been crying out for a rotational option behind Mohamed Salah, with Federico Chiesa so far unable to provide that cover through fitness and form concerns.
The Egyptian King could be absent for up to ten games in January due to AFCON, so Frimpong could be an astute piece of business by the Anfield hierarchy.
As for Wirtz, the number ten role is obviously his most natural position. Dominik Szoboszlai is the closest player to that number ten role in Slot’s current system, often acting in a double press alongside Luis Diaz this season.
The German wonderkid could also be an option from the left-wing, with Diaz’s future still a talking point as we head into the summer window.
