AC Milan are continuing their search for a new sporting director and time could be of the essence, given how much work there is to do.
Almost all major sources are reporting that there was a four-hour long meeting in Rome between the CEO Giorgio Furlani and Igli Tare yesterday, who is one of the candidates being considered for the vacant position.
According to Sky (as seen below), one meeting is not enough to talk about the finish line being reached, but it was certainly a positive and lengthy discussion between the two, and further contacts are likely to follow.
The broadcaster speaks about the five main tasks that the new sporting director will have to tackle, and the top priority will be to choose the head coach given the impact that will have on other decisions.
Then, there will be some complicated renewals to tackle, such as Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan who have deals that run out in June 2026. There could well be a big sacrifice needed in terms of a potential sale, given the lack of Champions League revenues.
Then, there will be the choice of the future centre-forward. Santiago Gimenez was a €30m+ investment in the winter transfer window but he is struggling for form, so another purchase cannot be ruled out. Finally, there is a ‘defence to rebuild’ given how many goals have been let in.
