A brief recap of every Southampton starter's match performance after getting dominated by Brighton.

Presently, Southampton has become a shadow of itself and there are no two ways about this fact. The Saints weren't Premier League-beaters previously but they didn't hit new lows with each passing week either.

In contrast, the current playing squad has met two disappointing results within a week's timeframe. In terms of attack, there were hardly any praiseworthy efforts and the defence couldn't match their opponent's enthusiasm all night.

Therefore, let's rewind through every starting player's matchday performance on a scale of 1-10.

Southampton's player ratings after capping off disappointing St. Mary's evening

GK - Aaron Ramsdale: 7

Called into action within minutes after the kickoff and didn't disappoint. Kept Southampton into the game by only conceding once in the first half but was left defending alone later.

CB - Jan Bednarek: 5

Had a dip in form during February and his injury denied any remaining hope for a comeback this month. Considering Juric's comments, Bednarek might be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks.

CB - James Bree: 4

Bree was a complete mismatch while marking Kaoru Mitoma. Though the latter's early miss relieved Bree, Mitoma compensated for that by getting on the scoresheet.

CB - Joe Aribo: 4

Left helpless by his teammates on the first goal and lost his concentration on the second.

LWB - Welington: 5

Showed signs of tiredness after the initial moments and had to be substituted swiftly as a result.

RWB - Kyle Walker-Peters: 4

He was dribbled past easily all game but his clearance on a wasted Brighton opportunity was commendable.

CM - Lesley Ugochukwu: 4

Started in the middle of the park but again partnered with Aribo to help him in a makeshift backline. Made multiple interventions near the penalty box.

CM - Mateus Fernandes: 6

Again saw a goal contribution disallowed for offside. Apart from that, tested the Brighton goalkeeper on a few occasions.

CAM - Tyler Dibling: 5

Operated as a playmaker and looked in much more fine touch than the past week.

ST - Cameron Archer: 6

Saw his happiness cut short due to a marginal offside call.

ST - Kamaldeen Sulemana: 5
