Austrian international Stefan Posch may be in line for a Bundesliga return. The long-time Hoffenheim man – per Kicker – may be returning to his former club before the January transfer window closes. Posch last played in Kraichgau during the 2022/23 campaign.
The versatile defender ended up racking up 109 German top-flight appearances during seven seasons spent in Sinsheim. He played as a central defender, defensive midfielder, and right back whilst donning a TSG trikot.
Posch made his last appearance for Hoffenheim on the opening day of the 2022/23 season. In something of an ignominious exit, he would be sent off on double yellows in the August 2022 loss to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Hoffenheim then initially loaned him out to Bologna before selling him outright to the Serie A outfit for €5m. Since moving to Italy, Posch has experienced his fair share of ups and downs.
The 42-times-capped ÖFB international’s estimated market value dipped down to €7m in November of 2022. Posch managed to pump it back up to his career high of €14m seven months later.
At present, Posch is valued at €10m after falling out of the starting XI of Bologna head-coach Vincenzo Italiano. The Hoffenheim youth academy product has started just seven of 22 league fixtures thus far this year.
