Stuttgart’s Ermedin Demirovic speaks on scoring his first Bundesliga hat-trick

VfB Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirovic scored his first Bundesliga hat-trick for his new Bundesliga club yesterday afternoon. With 13 league goals scored in the current campaign, the summer signing from Augsburg hasn’t necessarily been a flop. It remains the case that the former Augsburg and Freiburg player naturally doesn’t fill the large boots of departed “super scorer” Serhou Guirassy.
For Demirovic himself, however, inching closer to his goals total (15) in the Fuggerstadt last season means that he’s closer to meeting a personal goal. The Bosnia & Herzegovina international did become the first Stuttgart player since Guirassy (and only 12th overall) to net a hat-trick away from home. Demirovic has collected two braces in Bundesliga fixtures for the Swabians this year.
“I’m trying to match the previous season,” Demirovic – as quoted by Kicker– said Saturday. “Now I’m trying to just keep pushing and take my chances. I’m getting more chances because we’re just playing good football.
“If you just look at the three goals, then it was my best game,” Demirovic also noted. “But I think there were other games in which I was much better. I’ve often scored two goals and then couldn’t manage the third.”
This nearly happened again on Saturday when Bochum keeper Timo Horn denied him his third goal of the afternoon in the 58th minute yesterday. Thankfully, the VfB striker secured his third goal of the day five minutes from the end of normal time.
Demirovic collected three league braces for Augsburg last year and one the season before that.
“I thought to myself, ‘oh no, not again’,” Demirovic joked.
