Rest could be the best remedy for Kovacic after a busy season.

Phil Foden has spoken of his need to rest this summer. He is hoping to have time off during the summer so he can recover from an ankle injury and the mental battle he has faced this season. Based on the Sportske Novosti report it seems that Mateo Kovacic could be in the same boat. Kovacic deserves credit for playing through the pain barrier of late. He did miss Manchester City’s FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace due to fitness issues. His absence from the FA Cup final could have been related to the issue reported by Sportske Novosti. But a period of rest after surgery should help the Croatian midfielder recuperate after this season’s efforts.

If the Sportske Novosti report is correct it appears that Mateo Kovacic won’t feature at the Club World Cup. That may be a blessing based on the reported injury that the Croatian midfielder is dealing with currently. Perhaps that is the best thing for Kovacic after a busy 24/25 season for the midfielder.
