Non-league Tamworth take on Tottenham in search of a giant-killing in the FA Cup’s third round draw this weekend. It is the biggest gap between two teams in the third round, with 96 places currently separating the sides in the football pyramid.

Tamworth compete in the National League and are the lowest-ranked team left in the FA Cup this campaign.

Ben Acquaye is the only unfortunate member of Tamworth’s squad to miss today’s tie as he recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Defender Jordan Cullinane-Liburd is available again after serving a suspension.

Tottenham are no stranger to facing non-league opposition having faced eighth-tier side Marine back in 2021.

The Lilywhites, then managed by Jose Mourinho, ran out 5-0 winners on the day with Carlos Vinicius scoring a hat-trick.

James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr are back at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal after the midfielders were suspended during midweek against Liverpool.

Postecoglou has confirmed that Antonin Kinsky will start but Rodrigo Bentancur is unavailable as he follows concussion protocols.

Form

Tamworth: LWDLL

In their first season back in the fifth tier in over a decade, Tamworth are having a season to remember.

Andy Peaks’ side earned promotion to the National League last season after being crowned champions of the National League North.

The Lambs sit in 16th position and are seven points clear of the relegation spots, though much of the focus has been on their historic run.

First, they beat Robbie Savage’s Macclesfield 4-2 in the fourth qualifying round to make the first round proper. Then, in front of the television cameras, Tamworth upset League One opposition in Huddersfield Town. In the second round, The Lambs took Burton Albion to a penalty shootout.

Goalkeeper Jasbir Singh was the hero as he saved two penalties to see the National League outfit knock out another League One side. Tamworth were eliminated from a different cup competition on Tuesday, losing 1-0 to Sutton United in the FA Trophy.

Tottenham: LLDLW

Tottenham ended a run of five games without a win by narrowly edging out Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Lucas Bergvall scored the only goal of the game with four minutes to go to give Spurs the advantage going into the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

The Lilywhites have had to contend with a plethora of injuries over the last few months which have impacted results.

In recent weeks, Spurs have lost to Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle and drew at home to Wolves. However, Ange Postecoglou’s side have suceeded in the cup competitions and will be hoping that continues with progression into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
