Former Manchester City star Micah Richards says that when one Chelsea player in particular plays well, then the team win games.

The new comes after Chelsea beat Premier League winners Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in what was a fantastic overall performance by The Blues.

Cole Palmer was back in fine form for Chelsea and is one of the reasons that they put in such a good performance, with the stats proving this as well.

Palmer was also involved in Chelsea’s first goal of the game in the opening minutes, as well as some good work by Romeo Lavia and Pedro Neto to setup Enzo Fernandez to provide a lovely finish to get things going.

Chelsea were just ticking along nicely yesterday against Liverpool and they never really looked like they weren’t going to win the game from the moment they got the first goal.

It was not ‘Maresca-ball’ as such because Liverpool had the lion share of possession, but it was quick transitional football from Chelsea that won them the game.

Cole Palmer was instrumental

He scored the last goal from the penalty spot, but Palmer was colossal for Chelsea again yesterday and looks to be finding his form again right when The Blues need him to.

Richards says that when Palmer plays well, Chelsea win, in words picked up by SPTC today.

The former full back said:

“The standout player was Cole Palmer. When Cole Palmer plays well, Chelsea win. It’s as simple as that.

“Everyone can play well in that team and you can have a clean sheet or whatever, but the difference is Cole Palmer. When he is on it, they are a different animal when he plays well.”
