Amidst everything that Manchester City has achieved in recent seasons, one topic has rumbled away in the background. Manchester City’s 115 case has dominated headlines over recent seasons. We learned in December that the hearing over Manchester City’s alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules had concluded. Now we are awaiting the independent panels verdict on the case. That verdict could drop at any time now. But the entire case needs a resolution so Manchester City, football and the Premier League itself can all move on.

At this point, the entire affair is in a holding pattern. That is understandable given the size and complexities of the case. While it is understandable that the independent panel needs time to reach a verdict that doesn’t make it any less frustrating. The sooner the verdict is reached and announced the better it will be for all of the parties involved. Barring any appeals we will know where the Premier League and Manchester City sit after one of the biggest legal cases in Premier League history has a verdict.

From a Manchester City point of view, they have continued on in their belief that the club will clear their name. As David Ornstein explains to NBC Sport in the clip below it is business as usual at City. They have made no contingency plans for a guilty verdict. We now wait to see if City’s stance is justified. But that stance has been consistent from the club from the moment the Premier League’s charges were announced.

Summary
