Former Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson tells Marcus Rashford which decision he must avert from for the sake of his playing career.

The 27-year-old has been dominating the headlines as of late, albeit for the wrong reasons. The striker was omitted from Ruben Amorim’s squad for consecutive matches in a row, before making his return to the team against Newcastle United, but remaining on the bench although the Red Devils were trailing for almost the entire match.

Therefore, many fans and pundits, including Gary Neville, believe that Rashford’s departure has become inevitable at this stage. But while the likes of AC Milan, Juventus, West Ham United, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain and even Como have emerged as reported suitors, the player’s next destination remains unclear, as none of these clubs have made significant progress in their attempts to land him.

Moreover, clubs from the Saudi Pro League are reportedly enquired about the situation, ready to test the Englishman’s resolve by showering him with monumental amounts of cash.

Nevertheless, Johnson urges Rashford to resist these attempts, as he remains too young to exit the European scene and play for money.

“From the outside, it doesn’t look as though Marcus Rashford has a future at the club.” reckons the former Chelsea, Liverpool and Portsmouth player (via the Mirror).

“He’s still a very good player that can offer an awful lot. I don’t know what the internal arguments are, but if it’s not down to his character and personality, then I think he’ll get a lot of offers because of his ability. However, if he’s not training with the group because of his character or behaviour, then all of a sudden the list of clubs who will be willing to take him gets a lot smaller.

“I hope Rashford doesn’t move abroad because, as far as his reputation is concerned, that would be the end of him. I know it can be hard to turn down those moves because of the amount of money, but he’s still too young.”
