Nicolas Jackson brought up a milestone for Chelsea at the weekend after scoring his 20th Premier League goal for the club.

Jackson has started the season in good form, improving from an up-and-down first season in English football to emerge as a consistent threat for Chelsea. The Senegalese striker has brought up 20 league goals in just 44 appearances for the West Londoners, edging out Hernan Crespo (45) as the fifth-fastest to achieve the feat for Chelsea.

5. Nicolas Jackson – 44 games

Jackson has taken 44 games in the Premier League to reach the 20-goal mark. The forward’s composed finish against Newcastle at the weekend continued his excellent start to the season, with Jackson having netted six times in nine appearances in 2024/25.

After a mixed first season that saw Jackson criticised for some wayward finishing, he has demonstrated refinement in season two at Stamford Bridge. Still just 23, the potential is clear.

4. Mark Stein – 37 games

Chelsea snapped up the services of Mark Stein from second-tier Stoke in 1993, with the South African striker hitting the ground running in West London.

Stein scored 13 goals in his first 18 top-flight appearances for Chelsea and set a Premier League record by scoring in seven consecutive matches between December 1993 and February 1994. The record stood until 2002, when Manchester United’s Ruud van Nistelrooy surpassed it.

He reached 20 goals in 37 games for Chelsea but lost his place following the high-profile arrivals of Gianluca Vialli, Mark Hughes and Gianfranco Zola. Stein scored 21 goals in 50 league games for Chelsea before leaving for Bournemouth, after loan spells at Stoke and Ipswich.

3. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – 33 games

Chelsea equalled the Premier League transfer record to sign Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink from Atletico Madrid in 2001.

Hasselbaink had spent just a single season in the Spanish capital after leaving Leeds United, where he had won a share of the Premier League’s Golden Boot in 1998/99. Atletico’s shock relegation, despite Hasselbaink’s 24 La Liga goals, saw Chelsea snap up the striker and the Blues were duly rewarded.

The Dutchman scored 23 league goals in his debut season to win a second Premier League Golden Boot, becoming just the second player – after Alan Shearer – to win the award with two clubs.

2. Cole Palmer – 27 games

Cole Palmer exploded on the Premier League scene last season at Chelsea.

Snapped up from the fringes of the first team at Manchester City, Palmer proved the signing of the season as he scored 22 goals and laid on 11 assists for Chelsea in 2023/24. His performances saw Palmer lead the Premier League for goal involvements and claim a host of individual accolades, including the PFA Young Player of the Year, PFA Fans’ Player of the Year and Chelsea’s Player of the Season.

1. Diego Costa – 26 games

Jose Mourinho sought the signing of Diego Costa as the former Chelsea boss looked for a menacing forward presence in 2014.

Arriving from Atletico Madrid, Costa’s goals propelled Chelsea to the Premier League title in his debut season as he combined with fellow recruit Cesc Fabregas to inspire their success.

The Spaniard scored 20 goals in just 26 appearances and repeated the feat with another 20-goal campaign as Chelsea won another title, under Antonio Conte, in 2016/17.
