Despite leaving AC Milan last month, Paulo Fonseca’s hunt for a new job could be impacted by his time in Italy, and not from a results perspective.

Fonseca’s time in Milano will certainly be remembered, but whether much of it will be for the right reasons is debatable. The wins against Real Madrid and Inter were phenomenal, but for the results like that, there were also losses against Atalanta and Napoli.

Unfortunately, there were often poor results against lower-quality teams too, so this only further worsens the memories of the Portuguese on the pitch.

Despite the poor results, the head coach was respected by fans, and this showed when he was not jeered at the 125th-anniversary celebrations, being one of a few to not receive a negative reaction.

He left respected by the fan base, even if results had not gone his way, especially considering how his exit transpired.

The exit is exactly what could hold him back moving forward too, as according to Tuttomercatoweb (via Milan News), the Portuguese has a contract with Milan until June, despite his sacking. A complication, as the report states, which could affect a potential move to Olympique Lyon, who have an interest in him as their next head coach.

Whether there is a break clause in the contract remains to be seen, however, the Diavolo may be involved in any moves in the next six months.
