, Tottenham Hotspur are still in the race to sign Jonathan David, who will leave Lille at the end of the season. The Premier League club are trying to get a pre-contract agreement signed by the player in January.

Jonathan David joined Lille from Gent in the summer of 2020. Since then, he has climbed up the ladders pretty quickly and has established himself as a mainstay in the squad. He has blessed the French outfit with his consistently impressive performances.

David is the leading goal scorer in the Ligue 1 this season with 17 goals to his name in 27 outings. He also has five assists to his name. He is averaging 2 shots, 0.6 key passes, and 0.7 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).

The Canadian striker is physically strong, intelligent, and remains calm under pressure. He has raw pace, passing technique, finishing abilities with both feets. Off the ball, he also tracks back to contribute in the defensive section.

Jonathan David has high demands

Tottenham Hotspur already have Dominic Solanke at their disposal as the striker but adding Jonathan David won’t be a bad call at all. The latter can compete for the starting role and will be only increase competitiveness within the squad.

David is already a proven name and should be able to adapt in the English league without much struggle. Spurs haven’t done well this season and they need to strengthen their unit to improve their performance. Hence, the Canadian could be a great buy considering the fact that he will come for free.

The 24-year-old striker is willing to sign a pre-contract agreement in January as he don’t want to force his way out midseason. While Tottenham Hotspur are keen on getting an agreement in place, it won’t be easy. The likes of Newcastle United, Liverpool, and West Ham United are also present in the race.
