Tottenham Hotspur could miss out on top attacking target Randal Kolo Muani after Le Parisien revealed that Juventus have agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the Frenchman.
The 26-year-old had emerged as Tottenham’s top winter transfer window target. The France international forward can play across the forward line and would give Spurs a welcome boost after being decimated by injuries.
Kolo Muani has struggled under PSG manager Luis Enrique, who has made it clear that he wants a striker of a different mould leading the line, prompting Tottenham to pounce.
However, the Premier League side faces a fight on their hands to convince the player to choose Spurs ahead of Juventus. At the moment, Juventus have a head start and look better positioned to seal his signature.
Even if Juventus pip Tottenham to the Kolo Muani signing, the north Londoners can still make other potentially exciting deals with the Ligue 1 giants.
PSG attacker Bradley Barcola has also fallen out with manager Enrique for reasons best known to the easily-ruffled head coach. It doesn’t help that he hasn’t managed a goal in his past ten games.
PSG have now signed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to add to the plethora of left-sided attackers on their books, including Desire Doue and Xavi Simons on loan.
Spurs need to wise up and move for Barcola now. He can give Tottenham that boost in attack that they crave, whether featuring on the left or on the right flank.
The 22-year-old will be desperate for regular playing time and can get that in north London, especially with Timo Werner and Wilson Odobert out with injuries.
He is a dainty dribbler with an eye for goal (10 league goals). He can split defences open with his x-factor, something Tottenham currently lack in the final third.
With Kolo Muani seemingly heading to Turin, Tottenham must act decisively. Barcola is a talented young player who could be a valuable addition to the squad.
They need to capitalise on his current situation at PSG and make a strong offer to secure his signature before other clubs enter the fray. Time is of the essence for Spurs if they want to strengthen their attacking options.
