Trusty lavishes praise on Carter-Vickers ahead of Champions League showdown

The 27 year-old defender was absent from Celtic’s squad on Saturday evening when the Hoops eased past Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers to book their place in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed CCV is fit and good to go

Carter-Vickers, who has missed a fair chunk of his Celtic Champions League career due to injury – is fit and will feature in tonight’s Champions League knockout playoff showdown at Paradise against German giants Bayern Munich.

Speaking at yesterday’s pre-match media conference, Rodgers declared the centre-back match-ready: “Yeah, he’s fit and available,” Brendan said. “We gave a few of the boys a bit of a rest at the weekend. So, he’s fine.”

‘I’m the new guy on the pitch’

Meanwhile, when speaking to The Celtic Star yesterday afternoon, Auston Trusty lavished praise on his fellow American internationalist and the formidable partnership the duo has built up for both club and country.

“It’s been great. Cam and also everyone on the team. I’m new here. I’m the new guy on the pitch with them,” Trusty said.

“So, everyone here is welcoming me with open arms and every game I’ve gotten with them, every minute I can, our chemistry is just building and building. So, to play with Cam, play with everyone in the back line and the guys in front of me, it’s just been really, really good.”
