After ten seasons with the Real Madrid first-team setup, veteran star Lucas Vazquez is preparing to move on from his boyhood club this summer.

A product of La Fabrica, the 33-year-old ace, who started out as a winger and transitioned to a right-back in the latter stages of his career, has been at Real Madrid since he was 15 years old.

A season-long stint with Espanyol in 2014/15 aside, Vazquez has spent his entire senior career at the Santiago Bernabeu, but will bring down the curtains this summer when his contract expires.

No shortage of interest

Vazquez’s contract with Real Madrid runs out on June 30 but the club have secured a short-term extension to retain his services until the end of the FIFA Club World Cup, following which he will bid goodbye.

The 33-year-old Spaniard is already attracting interest from Girona, Rayo Vallecano, and Sevilla. Now, it appears that a few more La Liga clubs have shown an interest in him.

Indeed, according to SPORT, RCD Mallorca and RCD Espanyol have entered the race to sign Lucas Vazquez when he leaves Real Madrid this summer.

It must also be noted that the veteran full-back also has proposals from Saudi Arabia and Qatar while there has been tentative interest from the MLS as well.

So, there appears to be no shortage of suitors for the seasoned campaigner despite the dip in form he suffered this season, failing to fill in adequately for the injured Dani Carvajal.

Vazquez, for his part, is in no rush to make a decision, and it is likely that nothing will be finalised until his contract with Real Madrid officially ends after the Club World Cup.

It will be interesting to see whether the veteran star opts to stay in Spain with as many as five clubs chasing him or decides to follow his former teammates like Joselu and Nacho on a new adventure in the Middle East.
