In a candid episode of Liverpool FC’s podcast, three of Liverpool’s icons – Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Alisson Becker – sat down to share their reflections on memorable career moments, team camaraderie, and their ambitions under the new manager, Arne Slot. Their insights offer a peek into the mindset and motivation driving the team forward, as well as the close bonds that sustain them through victories and challenges alike.
For Mohamed Salah, the journey with Liverpool has been filled with unforgettable moments. Salah described the joy of simply being with his teammates every morning, saying, “The thing I appreciate the most is the time when I go every morning, and I see the guys, and we share, like, unbelievable moments.” He highlighted the camaraderie of Liverpool’s “senior group,” which includes Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. “When Bobby [Firmino] left…you just realised that everybody will leave one day,” Salah reflected, underscoring the value of each moment they spend together.
The players also spoke about challenging times, with Salah candidly recalling the sting of the Champions League final defeat. “It’s not easy to reach the Champions League final,” he acknowledged, reminding fans of the determination that defines Liverpool’s ethos. Yet, for Salah, the close-knit nature of the team brings solace and strengthens their bond, especially as the trio reminisces on hard-fought battles and triumphs.
As Liverpool’s steadfast goalkeeper, Alisson Becker is known for his calm under pressure, a trait that his teammates deeply admire. Reflecting on his journey, Alisson credited both mentors and teammates for helping him stay focused. “Every day that we have in life is a new opportunity to do something good, to improve,” Alisson noted, emphasising his commitment to his craft.

Alisson also revealed his techniques for maintaining composure during high-stakes moments, saying, “When you are more calm, things will go easy.” In fact, his teammates look to him for reassurance in tense situations. Robertson quipped about Alisson’s rare moments of anger, noting, “When Ali loses it…everyone listens.” Alisson’s influence extends beyond his performance; as Robertson explained, he plays a crucial role in welcoming foreign players and fostering a supportive team environment.
Andy Robertson’s journey from Scotland to Liverpool has been characterised by grit and determination. His inspiring career progression, from playing in the lower leagues to winning the Premier League and Champions League, is a testament to his relentless work ethic. Reflecting on his path, Robertson said, “Whatever path I was going to take, I just committed to, I was going to put absolutely everything into it.”

Robertson’s influence goes beyond his position as a left-back. Salah acknowledged that Robertson has offered guidance on maintaining composure, recalling when Robertson advised him, “When you miss a chance…everybody looks at you. If a superstar is doing that, what are we gonna do?” This reminder has stayed with Salah, underscoring the respect and unity within the team. The players’ supportive relationship was clear when Robertson joked about their shared goal: “I just want to make Mo happy. That’s it.”
The transition to Arne Slot’s management has brought a renewed sense of purpose. According to Robertson, Slot’s approach is refreshingly straightforward, describing him as “really honest and clear.” Slot’s ability to adapt to Liverpool’s established culture has been pivotal, as he worked closely with Salah and Robertson during pre-season to set new standards and adjust routines.

Salah shared his ambitions for the season, capturing the team’s collective mindset: “Win it all…I hate the idea that we are underdogs. No, we have an incredible group. One of the best in the world, if not the best.” It’s clear that Liverpool’s seasoned players are driven by a strong desire to make the club and its fans proud, with aspirations that extend to every trophy on offer.
Liverpool fans can take comfort in knowing that with leaders like Salah, Robertson, and Alisson, the team is in capable hands. Together, they embody the resilience, unity, and ambition that define Liverpool FC, promising to bring their best for the supporters and each other in this new era under Arne Slot.
