It seems Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy eventually got fed up with rumours in January. Specifically, the Dutchman had enough of some transfer speculation relating to his own Foxes players. Targeting one certain athlete's character appears to have been the straw which broke the camel's back. And the footballer targeted was one who is, apparently, well-respected within the LCFC group.
Ultimately, the former temporary Manchester United boss and star striker told press the true story about one supposedly created footballing storyline. And, trust me, we see and comment on plenty of those fibs in our line of work! In fact, I gave my view of the very issue in question. Basically, van Nistelrooy stuck up for a somewhat under fire Fox and writers such as myself have to consequently examine carefully what we said too.
In addition to speaking on that matter regarding defender Conor Coady, we'll also chat about veteran centre forward Jamie Vardy. The fabled No.9 has been praised once again. This time the ex-England international was commended by a one-time high profile teammate. So let's see exactly what van Nistelrooy stated about the centre back. Not to mention learning Kelechi Iheanacho's feelings on Vardy.
If you didn't know, former Fox Iheanacho is now at Championship club Middlesbrough. He's been loaned to the English side by Spanish outfit Sevilla after a difficult time in Spain. This is what he asserted about JV9:
"Biggest influence on my career? There is quite a couple. So many people helped me throughout my career, obviously, managers as well, [Manuel] Pellegrini, Brendan Rodgers, Pep Guardiola. Players as well Clichy, Kompany, Yaya Toure, obviously, Jamie Vardy as well"Iheanacho
Ex-Wolverhampton Wanderers player Coady was reportedly angling to rejoin his old team during the transfer window. When LCFC fans, including Foxes of Leicester, heard this - we were not impressed. Though, evidently, the Three Lions-capped professional was possibly unfairly treated by dishonest journalism:
"Asked if he had any doubts over Coady’s commitment, van Nistelrooy said: “Zero. I didn’t hear anything from his side where he asked to leave. That is totally not true. If that is what is being said, it’s not true.“He is a big part in this squad. He’s one of our leaders"RvN
