Girona 2-2 Celta

The three points were hard to come by for Girona, who went from strength to strength and managed to overcome a difficult situation to end up with a draw. Míchel Sánchez's men found it hard to impose their idea in a first half dominated by the visitors, but they still managed to take the lead with a goal by Tsygankov. The visitors equalized just before the break and reversed it right after the restart, and this is when the team had to be strong and show personality in order not to go down and continue looking for a reaction until the end, which came through Yangel Herrera's goal. The sensations have been improving, but both teams have ended up signing a draw.

Tsygankov opens the scoring

The Ukrainian winger took advantage of a long move after twenty minutes to score the first goal of the match. Previously, Oriol Romeu had hit the post with a shot from outside the area, and immediately after, a cross in the area by Krejci, extended by Yangel Herrera, enabled the '8' to finish alone in front of the goal line. In a first half in which the team was unable to control the game and struggled to play their soccer, Celta took advantage of a vertical attack ten minutes later to equalize. Losada finished off a low cross into the box unchallenged. Just before the break, Tsygankov required a save from the goalkeeper to turn a direct free-kick behind for a corner.

Yangel Herrera rescues a point

The second half started in the worst way. The referee signaled a harsh penalty committed by David López, and Marcos Alonso was in charge of converting it, deceiving Gazzaniga and crossing the ball to send it to the back of the net. It was not easy to react after an irregular dynamic of results and after seeing how the Galicians came back from the initial goal, but Girona did it and Yangel Herrera took advantage of the set piece to level the score again. The Venezuelan headed in a corner kick and headed the ball to the long post. Bryan Gil looked for the third with a shot from outside the area, and Stuani also finished inside the area from Yangel's pass, but the scoreboard did not move again.
