The creative excellence of Villarreal star Álex Baena has given rise to yet another head-turning statistic on Saturday.

This comes owing to the Spanish international’s performance in Villarreal’s La Liga meeting with Real Valladolid.

Marcelino’s troops marked their return to action earlier today, making the trip to the Estadio José Zorrilla with sights set on three points.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what the Yellow Submarine emerged with, courtesy of goals on the part of Thierno Barry, and Ayoze Pérez.

The true star of the show, once more, though, was the aforementioned Álex Baena.

Midfielder Baena conjured up another creative masterclass against Valladolid, laying on Villarreal’s late winner to make it six assists across the La Liga campaign to date.

And, as alluded to above, owing to as much, the 23-year-old set a season benchmark in Spain’s top-flight.
