Virgil van Dijk has confirmed that progress has been made in his talks with Liverpool over a new contract.
The Dutchman is one of three high-profile stars approaching the end of their contracts at Anfield alongside forward Mohamed Salah and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, the latter of whom is thought to be on the cusp of leaving to join Real Madrid.
Liverpool are said to be confident of agreeing extensions with both Van Dijk and Salah, and that optimism has been fuelled by the centre-back's public admission that things are moving in the right direction.
"There is progress, yeah," Van Dijk revealed.
Asked whether that means he is set to remain with Liverpool beyond this season, Van Dijk added: "I don't know, we'll see."

Van Dijk has rarely offered so much insight into his negotiations and, when pushed further to explain what progress has been made, once again refused to give anything away.
"Listen, these are internal discussions and we'll see," he continued.
"I love the club, I love the fans and they were there for us again [against Fulham]. We wanted to reward them but I ask them to be there again on Sunday and make the stadium an amazing venue like always for us."
Fans will hope for a similar update from Salah, who has spoken openly of his frustrations towards the lack of progress in negotiations. Officials from Saudi Arabia are reported to be confident that they remain in with a shout of signing the winger on a free transfer, although Salah's preference continues to be an extension with Liverpool.
