Wesley Fofana to make return to Chelsea squad | OneFootball

Wesley Fofana (24) is set to make his Chelsea return on Tuesday night when Enzo Maresca’s side host Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

Fofana has been out since the start of December when he suffered a hamstring injury during a 3-0 win over Aston Villa. An absence of around five weeks was originally hypothesised, however, concern grew at the start of January when Maresca stated that the France international could miss the end of the season with the issue.

It was a prognosis that led to Chelsea opting to recall Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace as cover. The Englishman is currently contending with a minor injury that will see him miss the game against the Saints on Tuesday but Fofana is expected to be in the matchday squad, as reported by RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

Fofana’s return would provide a boost for Chelsea, who have looked more fragile defensively in his absence. Chelsea are currently seventh in the Premier League but only one point off fourth-placed Manchester City.
