Milan will continue with a recent Mothers Day tradition when Bologna visit San Siro in Serie A on Friday evening, as the players will wear their mothers’ maiden names on the backs of their shirts instead of their usual names.
Milan host Bologna in a key match for the Serie A Champions League race on Friday evening. The Rossoneri are currently in ninth place, while Bologna sit in seventh, but just one point away from the top four with three games of the 2024-25 campaign left to play.
It is also Mother’s Day in Italy this weekend, coming up on Sunday specifically, but with Milan in action in the Friday night slot, the team will give a public tribute to their mothers tonight instead.
All players will wear their mothers’ maiden names on the backs of their shirts against Bologna. These names will also be read aloud by the stadium announcer and will be projected onto the big screens in and around the stadium.

The VIP Lounge in San Siro will also be reserved for the mothers and children of the first-team players, coaches and club staff.
