Ruben Amorim has named a strong and relatively youthful starting XI for this evening’s 8pm kick-off against Rangers.
The Manchester United boss opted to keep Leny Yoro in the back-three despite his recent struggles in his last two starts, whereas Andre Onana has been withdrawn in place of Altay Bayindir following his costly blunder in the defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.
It was revealed leading into the game that both Antony and Alejandro Garnacho were likely to be involved in some form amidst their heavy transfer links in the remaining fortnight of the window. The Argentine was given the nod, so you can put your money on the fact Chelsea chiefs will be watching on from home.
21-year-old Toby Collyer makes his first European start after reports confirmed he’d be kept at Old Trafford this month – rather than going out on loan – to develop alongside the first-team with Amorim.
Joshua Zirkzee retains his spot up front, and, expectedly, he will be supported by Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes in attack. Earlier this week, Marcus Rashford was spotted in the side’s open training at Carrington, yet he remains omitted for a 10th successive game.

Manchester Evening News journalist Steven Railston did highlight one concern after seeing the line-up, however. He took to X/Twitter to point out the lack of youth prospects on the bench, who would’ve jumped at the chance to be in and amongst the senior squad on a European night.
“Two goalkeepers on the bench tonight and two spaces in a possible 23-man squad not used by Ruben Amorim, which is disappointing because it would have been a good experience for players from the academy,” Railston said.
