Ruben Amorim believes his Manchester United side could be considered ‘the worst’ in the club’s history after they were beaten at home by Brighton.
In another turgid display, United conceded twice in the second half, including another horror mistake from goalkeeper Andre Onana, as Brighton ran out 3-1 winners at Old Trafford.
The defeat leaves United languishing in the bottom half with Amorim suffering his seventh loss in 15 matches in charge.
“We are being the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United, we have to acknowledge that,” he claimed post match.
“It’s hard to explain. We have to acknowledge the moment and not go around the problem.
“Everybody here is underperforming. No matter the circumstances, we are underperforming.
“We have to accept that this is unacceptable to lose so many games, for any club in the Premier League. Imagine Manchester United.
“It’s a really hard moment but we have to continue. There is no other way. We need to suffer and continue.
When asked on what he’s learnt about his players in the past few matches, Amorim continued: “The opponents are better than us, in many details.
“We cannot be consistent. I’m not helping my players in the moment. It’s a hard moment and we have to acknowledge that we are in a very difficult situation.
“We have all the bad records, losing [the most] games at home, losing [the most] games in the Premier League. We are really underperforming. We need to win games, that’s all.
“I knew this was going to be hard, to put a completely new idea in this moment but when you lose games and you don’t have that luck to win three games in a row, it’s becoming really hard.
“That’s why I’m saying we are going to suffer because I will continue to do the same. To help my players I need to give them the tools to play in this way, but then without training it’s really hard.
“You can feel it at the end of the game. Everybody was changing position and that is something that I will not see again.”
