Tomorrow’s Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Juventus will not feature a number of big names due to injury crises in both teams.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, suggest that the total value of the players not available is as high as €280 million.

It’s no secret that both Inter and Juventus have lost some big players to injury recently.

For the Nerazzurri, both Francesco Acerbi and Hakan Calhanoglu suffered thigh strains in last weekend’s match against Roma.

Both Acerbi and Calhanoglu are pillars of Inter’s starting eleven. But neither will be available to take on Juventus tomorrow.

Then, Inter also lost Carlos Augusto to a thigh problem against Young Boys in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, for Juventus the likes of Teun Koopmeiners, Douglas Luiz, Nico Gonzalez, and Bremer will all be out.

That is three of the Bianconeri’s big summer signings, plus the pillar of their defense.

Of course, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi and his Juventus counterpart Thiago Motta will still be able to name strong teams tomorrow with the squad depth they have at their disposal.

But for the Corriere, it is striking to consider the cash value of the players who will be missing.

The newspaper value Inter’s infirmary at €70.5 million. They consider Hakan Calhanoglu to be worth €45 million and Carlos Augusto to be worth €22 million.

Then, Francesco Acerbi is worth just €3.5 million due to his age. However, that does undersell how important the veteran defender is for the Nerazzurri even at the age of 36.

And then for Juventus, the cash value of the injured players is even higher.

That is little surprise considering that the Bianconeri will have to do without several of the players they splashed the cash to bring in over the summer transfer window.

Both Teun Koopmeiners and Douglas Luiz cost around €55 million.

Then, Nico Gonzalez arrived from Fiorentina in a deal worth around €35 million.

A defender or Bremer’s calibre, meanwhile, is worth €60 million in the eyes of the Corriere.

And that is not forgetting the long-term absence of former Napoli, Marseille, and Ajax striker Arkadiusz Milik. The Corriere value the Pole at €4 million.

That takes the total value of Juventus’s injury list to €209 million.

Adding the two sides up, that is a whopping €280 million worth of footballers who will not play any part in tomorrow’s Derby d’Italia.
