3 Positives and 3 Negatives to take from West Ham 0 Newcastle 1

Monday night’s match ended West Ham 0 Newcastle 1.
Ahead of each match we ask one of our writers to come up with three positives and three negatives following the game.
Plenty to talk about after this one.
On this occasion it is ‘Matt Busby said to Joe Harvey…’:
POSITIVES
Up to sixth
Very important that we took all three points this evening, especially considering other results at the weekend.
That’s our seventh win on the road in the league this season and even though I’ve been pretending tonight’s result didn’t matter, there’s no doubt winning ahead of Sunday was really important.
A tremendous three points.
No injuries and no suspensions
I bet we all winced when first Tonali, next big Joe and then Nick Pope all needed treatment, but all is well that ends well. I even suspect Pope was putting it on!
Very important that we didn’t pick up any further injuries or suspensions ahead of Sunday.
It was mission accomplished in that respect.
Bruno MOTM
A stellar performance from our Brazilian talisman and a fabulous goal from Harvey’s inviting cross.
Great to see Bruno singing along with the travelling toon army at the end and I loved his positive, upbeat response to Carragher when asked if we can beat Liverpool on Sunday.
My MOTM this evening and a real real tonic to Guimaraes looking like his old self ahead of the League Cup Final. Vamos!
NEGATIVES
We aren’t playing West Ham on Sunday
Let’s be honest, we controlled this game and never looked in bother.
I wish we were playing anyone other than Liverpool at Wembley. Just imagine if it was West Ham we were facing instead?
Murphy and Longstaff
I’m focusing on what happened in the 96th minute here. Instead of trying to take the sting out of the game, first Longstaff and then Murphy gave the ball away and invited some totally unnecessary pressure. Not good for the old ticker.
Botman and Hall are still injured, Gordon is still suspended
Imagine if those three were eligible for selection this Sunday?
Never mind, we know they’re not and we’ll manage all the same.
