Leeds United vs Sunderland

It’s looking like two from four for the automatic promotion places in the Championship and two of the contenders clash on Monday night. Leeds host Sunderland, two sides with fanatical fanbases who believe their clubs belong back on the big stage.

Leeds are the form side in the league with eight wins in a row across all competitions – without conceding a goal.

Sunderland have been rather more open in recent weeks, conceding six times in three games before a much-needed clean sheet against Luton last time out. The Black Cats need a result at Elland Road to remain within touch of the top.

Lazio vs Napoli

Serie A’s title race is engrossing this season and leaders Napoli head to Lazio this weekend.

Antonio Conte’s side are aiming to right some wrongs in the capital, having lost twice to Lazio already this season. Consecutive draws have seen Napoli’s lead cut to one point, with champions Inter breathing down their neck. A win in Rome will pile the pressure on Inter, who face Juventus later in the weekend.

Tottenham vs Manchester United

It’s a crisis club Clásico this weekend as Tottenham Hotspur host Manchester United. Both sides had top-four ambitions before a ball had been kicked but are marooned in the Premier League’s bottom half. A mix of mismanagement and injuries have hindered their seasons so far, with both managers under real pressure.

However, entertainment is perhaps in the offing. Spurs know how to play only one way, while United are still getting to grips with Ruben Amorim’s tactical shape.

Juventus vs Inter

Juventus face Inter Milan in The Derby d’Italia this weekend with hopes high for another classic. Their first meeting this season delivered eight goals in a pulsating 4-4 draw at the San Siro.

That stalemate was one of 13 draws for Juventus this season, who have been masters of ending all square. Inter are point behind Napoli in the title race in what could be a pivotal weekend in the chase for the Scudetto.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich

Is this win or bust for Bayer Leverkusen’s title defence? It certainly feels like it.

Leverkusen conquered Germany for the first time last season without losing a single game. Their dethroning of Bayern Munich was widely saluted after an era of dominance from the Bavarians, but normal service is in danger of resuming. Bayern extended their lead to eight points last weekend after Leverkusen were held goalless at Wolfsburg.

Defeat for the champions this weekend could open up an insurmountable gap.
