The Dutch can’t improve on their second position with a five-point gap to Germany. They are likely to face Portugal, Spain, France or Italy in the double-legged quarter-final in March next year.

Timber has featured as a regular left-back for the Gunners this campaign, but he could swap positions after the international break with right-back Ben White out for eight weeks after knee surgery.

Riccardo Calafiori and Takehiro Tomiyasu are anticipated to return from respective injuries this month. The former is widely expected to reclaim the left-back position against Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal are already nine points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool and they need to be perfect in the upcoming festive schedule to have any chance to winning the title this season.
