Back-to-back promotions are rare. Back-to-back-to-back promotions have never been done. But Wrexham have the chance to make history on Saturday. Two things need to happen: 1) they must beat #4 Charlton and 2) #3 Wycombe must lose or draw at #6 Leyton Orient.

Haters are quick to jump on the Northern Welsh side, whose Hollywood owners (Ryan Reynolds & Rob McIlhenny) and the wildly successful documentary Welcome to Wrexham have pushed the club into the international spotlight. But here’s the truth: money and celebrity are not the keys to success. At the end of it, the club still has to grind through 40+ games per season and win. Love them or loathe them, but Wrexham are doing the business.
No this is not some seedy proposition at the dregs part of the night’s clubbing. It’s a real situation.
The National League South, which sits at the 6th tier of the English Football Pyramid, is in the unique position of having SIX teams that could possibly win the title. That’s 25% of the entire field.

Saturday is the final game of the season, and one cannot imagine that fans across the south of England will be in the stands one eye and full lung cheering on their side, with the other eye on their phones for updates. All twelve matches will kickoff at the same time.
Though Truro host relegation-threatened St. Alban’s and are the likely winners, I’m pulling for Dorking Wanderers to pull an upset for the ages.
In the fourth tier it’s going down to the wire in the promotion race.

As you can see, the three guaranteed promotion rungs are separated by three points. A win by either Doncaster, Port Vale or Bradford could provide that crucial separation going into next week’s penultimate game.
Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ll know that Wembley Stadium will host the semi-finals of the Football Association Cup. If club home stadium proximity to Wembley plays any factor, Crystal Palace are a shoo-in against Aston Villa.
Manchester City will play Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Really, all anyone will be watching is Sunday’s Liverpool vs. Tottenham tie. Liverpool only need a draw to clinch the title, and it would be fitting to do it at home. Their last title was hoisted during COVID in an empty Anfield. It would feel right to have it happen before that crowd in full “You’ll Never Walk Alone” voice.
