Ajax still want to continue with Davy Klaassen (32) and Remko Pasveer (41). Both players have an expiring contract, but have been in talks with the club for some time about longer deals.
Klaassen returned to Amsterdam in September and signed a one-season contract. With eight goals in 31 Eredivisie matches, he subsequently showed great value for the eventual runners-up in the league.
After reaching the Champions League, a new contract for Klaassen seemed a formality, but due to various circumstances, both parties were unable to reach an agreement. Now that the season has ended, Ajax are still trying to reach an agreement with the midfielder.
The same goes for Pasveer, who is in talks with Ajax for the third year in a row about extending his contract. The veteran played an important role in the past season, with good performances on the field, but also with a key leadership role in the group. Ajax see Pasveer as a mentor for a possible new goalkeeper.
Of course, if Klaassen and Pasveer stay, they will play under a different manager. After Francesco Farioli announced he will leave, Erik ten Hag and Paul Simonis are the top candidates to take over.
