It is no secret that Spurs have had a tough time of late. Results have been largely poor, and they have an unprecedented injury crisis, couple with illnesses and some very inconvenient suspensions.
Having beaten Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad in November, Ange's side had only one two games since - when they beat Southampton 5-0 and Manchester United 4-3 in back to back games in mid December.
Last night was much better, as Spurs managed to overcome Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi finals, with a 1-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, thanks to a late winner from Lucas Bergvall.
Everyone at the club needed a night like last night, after how tough the last couple of months have been. Nobody more so than the manager, Ange Postecoglu, who admitted it has been an emotional time.
In one of his post match interviews following the win, he said: "It has been an emotional time. I am a human being. I don't feel great that people at this club, our supporters, don't have that feeling of victory. It weighs heavily on me.
Whilst Ange has shown emotion in the past, both positively and negatively, this was a side to him that we don’t often see. A side to him that makes you even more desperate for him to be a success in North London.
Just remember, whilst it is fine to criticise when applicable, don’t be fooled by the noise. Last night, we saw Ange adapt and manage the game well after going 1-0 up. Nevertheless, Sky Sports pundits were talking as if Spurs were still being “naive” after going ahead. They do not care about the facts. Just what they wish to believe.
In fact, Spurs scored from playing the ball over the Liverpool high line, and slicing through their defence. We can only assume that Arne Slot should have “adapted” and “compromised” his style? Or, does that only apply to Ange.
Beating the best team in England with a debutant keeper, an 18 year old midfielder at centre back, a right back at left back, only two available midfielders, no options off the bench. Just incredible, don’t you forget it.
Ange may have his flaws, like anyone else - nobody is perfect - but please get behind this guy, really - and to LEVY, please, back him. There is so much potential for this side if he was to be backed.
