Arne Slot embracing 'responsibility' of Liverpool's Premier League title charge | OneFootball

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has admitted he feels a "responsibility" to win a Premier League title which supporters will actually be able to celebrate properly.

The Reds lifted the trophy in the 2019/20 season in an empty stadium as COVID-19 restrictions meant there were no fans in attendance and a trophy parade was not able to be held, with supporters forced to limit their celebrations of the club's first league title in 30 years.

Slot is ready to right that wrong this time around. Liverpool welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield on Sunday knowing just one point will get the job done and give supporters the chance to truly celebrate a title triumph.

"It's a big responsibility because we are aware of the fact last time this club won the league it was COVID times," Slot told his pre-match press conference.

"Everybody is looking forward to Sunday but there's still a job to be done which is one point, that's what we know and hopefully our fans know as well that they support us in the best possible way as they have done all season and are aware of fact we still need a point. It's a nice game to look forward to."

While Liverpool are widely expected to get the job done on Sunday, Slot warned fans that Tottenham will be in no mood to roll over and hand them the title.

"The game has to be played against a Tottenham side that is playing for something special in Europa League," Slot continued. "They want to go there in the best possible prepared way.

"We are only focused on the next opponent and that is Tottenham now. We will try to prepare the team the same way we have done all season and hopefully the players can bring same mentality and energy, and the fans the same."
