Arsenal youth defender Maldini Kacurri completed a deadline-day transfer to League Two side Bromley FC earlier this week, and he was quickly involved in match action for his new loan side.

With the loan having been confirmed on Monday, Kacurri made the starting lineup for Bromley away to Salford City on Tuesday night, playing 78 minutes of the contest.

Though it ended up being a disappointing 3-3 draw, Bromley were still winning 3-2 when Kacurri was withdrawn in the 78th minute. The Arsenal youngster certainly can’t take any blame for Salford’s late equaliser.

Speaking after the game, Bromley boss Andy Woodman explained why the club signed Kacurri, as well as praising the 19-year-old’s debut performance.

“With Callum (Reynolds) heading out the door, we wanted to bring a centre-half in,” Woodman said. “Maldini is a young boy. He was probably not used to (matches like the one on) Tuesday night having come from Arsenal.

“I thought he did really well for his first game. He’s physically strong for this level and we’re delighted to have him on board.”

Kacurri could have another opportunity to impress very shortly, with Bromley travelling away to face MK Dons on Saturday, February 8th at 15:00 GMT.

It’s set to be a fast start to the teenager’s first senior loan spell, but if he can come through it well and hold down his place he’ll be in a good position to continue getting minutes for the remainder of the season.

Kacurri was previously on the books with Bromley as a youth player, before joining Fulham and then Arsenal.

The centre-back has already made his Gunners debut, coming on in the League Cup game against Bolton Wanderers, but this loan is his first chance for a run of games at senior level.
