Real Madrid won last season’s competition, securing a record-extending 15th title with victory over Borussia Dortmund. Los Blancos have won six of the last 11 editions of the Champions League and have reached at least the semi-finals in each of the last four seasons.

This is only the second time the teams have met in a European tie. Arsenal progressed 1-0 on aggregate in their 2005/06 clash, courtesy of Thierry Henry’s winner at the Bernabeu.
