Theo Hernandez will start for AC Milan at left-back against Real Madrid tonight, and it is a big European showcase for the Frenchman.
Since arriving from Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, Theo has played 224 games for Milan and has scored 31 goals – adding 41 assists too – which are figures that place him at the top of world football in his position.
However, as Diario AS write, his season has not started in the best way even if he has two goals and two assists in 11 games. The one he scored on 27 September was his 29th in Serie A, tying him up with the legendary Paolo Maldini at the top of the list of goals from Milan defenders.
After that came some more difficult weeks, such as against Fiorentina when he took a penalty that was saved by David De Gea and the head coach Paulo Fonseca confirmed he wasn’t even meant to take it. He got a straight red card after the final whistle for protesting to the referee too, which got him a two-match ban.
Theo’s contract expires in 2026 and, as AS add, there has still been no contact with his agent to begin negotiations for his renewal. The player is happy at Milan and willing to extend a contract that began five years ago, but the months are passing.

If the situation does not unblock itself, in the coming months it will be inevitable that a sale is talked about, especially after the Gianluigi Donnarumma, Hakan Calhanoglu and Franck Kessié situations, who all left as free agents.
Bayern Munich, PSG and several Premier League teams have already had contacts in recent months to inquire about his situation. The Rossoneri must make a decision: negotiate a renewal (likely at high figures) or open up to a sale.
